I recently went to my first political meeting, in 53 years, after Googling, Tea Party, Elkhart, IN, because I had a burden to get involved in good gov't. I PRAYED FOR A DIVINE CONNECTION. Nothing like that happened during the meeting. After the meeting, I was late to leave, because I am a recent widower with a baby & brought her with me. My old van was the only vehicle in that part of the lot. To my amazement, the candidate for governor who talked to me after the meeting stopped his diesel Hummer right behind my old van WHILE I WAS STANDING AT THE DRIVER'S DOOR! So I knocked on his driver's window & shared my interest in running for IN Senate & some ideas to reduce gov't service expenses & improve the health of IN citizens (Bar Food Stamps from sweetened foods & drug test welfare recipients & more). In brief, he said he wanted to meet me when he came back. Several weeks later his staff arranged for me to meet him near the next TEA MAC, (Tea Michiana Action Coalition) meeting. To my shock, after swapping family/ministry details, instead of asking how I could get him votes for election, he said, "What can I do to help you?" He told me, "I have not seen the kind of enthusiasm & commitment that I see in you among Democrats or Republicans! It is people like you who can change our gov't." Later he told me I had more zeal (It's all for Jesus) than many Tea Party leaders. He also gave me his cell phone & said he reads my emails, accepted 3 books, "I See a New America", "The 5,000 year leap", & "Men & Marriage" by George Gilder, & said, "I like all your suggestions." I don't know if or when I will run or get elected for office, but GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYER, & I MAY HAVE INFLUENCE FOR GOOD IN IN GOV'T! Pray for me that I say the right things to him.
