Should Christians be Involved in Politics?

Many Christians worry about getting involved in politics; however, the truth is that politics effect evangelism, discipleship, and worship. If Christians do not wake up, our government will begin taking away our religious freedoms, as many governments have in foreign countries. We are called to be the salt and light of the earth – and that means speaking up.

Should Christians be Involved in Politics

Wasting one's time in politics IS now and NEVER has been the role of God's true church! As a pastor I always ask the following question when I meet someone who tells me they are a Christian, " Are you an American Christian or a Christian American?" How they answer tells me how they filter their faith, either through the eyes of their country first, then they fit their beliefs in God into that package or they see their relationship with God first and filter what is going on in the world through that package. It makes all the difference! You can read the whole NT and not find one word where Christians are to overthrow or even change any government and they began under Roman rule, with all it's pagan customs etc. The role of the church has NEVER BEEN to replace or improve the governments of this world but to opperate on a personal and organizational level under the rule and authority of the government of God and their LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ and the human government in the countryt where they live. God is NOT nor WILL HE EVER BE cut off or prevented from doing His work because what some human government does or does not do! The work He 'is doing' is setting people FREE, not to be citizens of any country but to be HIs children. FREE of sin and all it intails. FREE to have eternal life with Him besause of what His Son did! NOT what any other human does! You see, if you see yourself as an American Christian, you more then likly think you are free already but NO ONE anywhere in the world is free, unless the Son has set them free and once free NO nation, human law or action of any kind can put them in bondage ever again, except themsleves!! It's time Christians world wide stopped thinking they have to do the SON's job and just get on with living the FREE life He called us to live, that of LOVING each other, even showing others how to love our enemies. I feel sorry that so many people waste so much of their time on the wrong things. May the God who truly sets people free do the same for you and those who thought you were right!

Pragmatism

I realize your video is only two minutes long. For that reason, substantive details may be lacking in your advocy for political involvement. However, one issue alarms me in your approaching this subject. It's completely pragmatic. Should our involvement in politics or any other activity be based on our potential to lose our legal right to engage in that activity? Or should we be engaging in that activity out of obedience to the Word of God, whether it's legally recognized or not?
